Facial / Dermal Fillers
Dermal fillers provide a minimally invasive, non-surgical treatment to restore volume, smooth wrinkles, refine, contour, and overall diminish signs of aging. We are proud to provide artistry and skillful technique with dermal fillers at Bentley Medical & Aesthetics.
Dermal Fillers
Injectable dermal fillers are a popular, non-surgical option for reducing the signs of aging and enhancing facial features. These injectable treatments are safe and effective and provide incredible results with minimal downtime. The skilled injectors at Bentley Medical and Aesthetics, led by Brooke Bentley FNP, B.C., provide expert injectable treatments focusing on natural yet dramatic results to restore a youthful appearance.
What Is Dermal Filler?
Dermal fillers are a soft, gel-like substance injected under the skin to smooth creases and wrinkles, restore volume, improve facial symmetry, and enhance natural features. The result is firmer, plumper, more youthful-looking skin.
Sculptra® Aesthetics
Sculptra® Aesthetics is a series of injections that increases your own natural collagen production, using a poly L-lactic acid (PLLA) collagen stimulator. This increase in collagen helps restore facial volume and fullness that has been lost due to aging. Unlike hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers, results appear gradually and can last up to two years. Patients see restored facial structure and volume, as well as diminished wrinkles resulting in a more youthful-looking appearance. Best results are seen with a treatment regime of 3-4 treatments 3-5 weeks apart.
A wide range of dermal fillers are on the market, and their active ingredients vary. At Bentley Medical and Aesthetics, we use a spectrum of FDA-approved, brand-name fillers:
Juvéderm and Restylane: Both brands of fillers are made with hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring compound found in the body that keeps skin plump and hydrated. When injected, the gel-like substance spreads smoothly and easily for a natural look that is immediately noticeable. To provide customized results, our injectors may use a selection of fillers from each brand, including Restylane, Restylane Silk, Restylane Lyft, Restylane Refyne, Restylane Defyne, Restylane Kysse, Restylane Contour, as well as Juvéderm XC, VOLUMA, VOLBELLA, VOLLURE. Results can last anywhere from 6 to 12 months, depending on the product, treatment, and other factors.
Sculptra: This filler is made with poly-l-lactic acid (PLLA), a biodegradable stimulatory substance that causes your body to create and rebuild its own natural collagen. This product is typically used in areas with more volume loss or deep lines and wrinkles and provides beautifully natural outcomes. Results appear gradually over several weeks and can last up to 2 years.
What Areas Can Be Treated with Dermal Filler?
Filler can be used on almost every area of the face. Some of the most common areas that are prime candidates for filler include:
– Nasolabial folds: Also known as “laugh lines,” these creases extend from the corners of your nose to the corners of your mouth and become more prominent as you age.
– Marionette lines: The lines that extend vertically from the corners of your mouth to your chin.
– Cheeks: Filler can be injected here to provide a plumper, more youthful look.
– Tear troughs: This area extends from the inner corner of your eye to your upper cheek. If the troughs are deep, filler can make them look shallower.
– Lips: If your lips have always been thin or have become thinner with age, filler can increase their volume.
– Chin & Jawline: Filler can strengthen and define the chin, contour the jawline, improve facial symmetry, and restore structure to the lower face.
What Can I Expect When Getting Dermal Fillers?
It is important to ensure that fillers are the right choice for each patient. During your initial consultation, we review your health history and discuss areas of concern and anticipated results. Your provider can then evaluate your facial structure and skin tone and recommend a customized filler treatment plan that works best your specific concerns and desired outcome.
Then comes the fun part! After cleansing and disinfecting the targeted areas, your skilled provider will slowly and expertly inject the filler into the appropriate areas. Some slight discomfort may be experienced as some areas are more sensitive than others. However, most patients find treatment only slightly uncomfortable. If you are concerned about potential pain, a numbing cream can be applied before treatment. Depending on the treatment plan, treatment time can range from 15 minutes to an hour.
After treatment, you may experience slight swelling or even some minor bruising. These are common and often unavoidable side effects that resolve quickly and can be treated with ice and arnica in the meantime.
How Long Does Dermal Filler Last?
Hyaluronic acid fillers are temporary, and you can expect retreatment at some point. However, this timeline will depend on your metabolism, body chemistry, and the fillers used in treatment. Hyaluronic acid fillers like Juvéderm and Restylane can last around 12 months or longer. Sculptra is longer-lasting; you can expect up to 2 years before needing another injection treatment.
