NAD+ vs. NMN: A Simple Guide to Boosting Your Body’s Energy and Longevity

In THis Post

Why are these two anti-aging powerhouses generating so much Buzz? The combination of NAD+ and NMN has become a hot topic in wellness. You might hear friends, colleagues, and influencers talking about them constantly. It’s easy to get lost in the buzzwords, so let’s break things down in simple terms.

By the end of this article, you’ll know the basics of these two anti-aging powerhouses and why they matter. You’ll also see how both fit into a broader plan for feeling good, staying healthy, and fighting the unwanted effects of getting older.

NAD+: What It Is and Why It Matters

NAD+ stands for nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide. It’s a coenzyme found in every cell of your body. This coenzyme helps with many vital processes like energy production and DNA repair. As we age, NAD+ levels start to decline naturally. The dip can cause a ripple effect on your health and appearance. This decline often shows up as tiredness, slowed metabolism, and skin that doesn’t bounce back as it used to.

Scientists have realized that boosting NAD+ might help fight those aging changes, so there’s plenty of interest in it now.

NMN: The Building Block

NMN stands for nicotinamide mononucleotide and is a building block that helps your body make NAD+. Think of it like a helper on a construction site, delivering raw materials so the final structure—NAD+—can be assembled by your body.

Without enough NMN, your cells can’t make the NAD+ they need, and those natural declines in NAD+ might hit you even harder and take a toll on your appearance.

Why NAD+?

People often report feeling more energetic and seeing improvements in metabolism. Some notice better muscle recovery and an overall sense of well-being. By fueling these vital pathways, NAD+ can give your cells the necessary resources to function more effectively.

Over time, NAD+ may help repair DNA damage from daily stressors like pollution, poor diet, and lack of sleep (though it’s always important to address the root cause too. It’s a way to support your cells so they don’t remain stuck in hidden stress and damage.

Why NAD+ Is Getting So Much Attention

Here at Bentley Medical and Aesthetics, we focus on restorative medicine. That means we’re looking at ways to address the root causes of aging, not just mask them. Research shows that when NAD+ levels are replenished, your cells have more resources to heal and regenerate. You may notice more stable energy, sharper mental focus, and even improvements in the look of your skin.

Getting NAD+ into Your System

It’s not always as simple as a pill. The biggest challenge is absorbing these compounds:

  • IV Infusions/Injections: Many people choose IV infusions or injections. IV infusions go straight into your bloodstream. With an NAD+ infusion, some feel a quick bump in energy. Others notice clearer thinking.
  • Capsules: Capsules can be convenient but may not consistently deliver ingredients to the bloodstream in a stable form. Stomach acid and digestion can break them down before they reach your cells.

NAD+ vs. NMN: Are They Rivals?

Are NMN and NAD+ rivals, or do they work well together?  The answer is not necessarily yes or no. NMN and NAD+ don’t have to compete. Some people use both, each for different reasons.

They might take NMN as a regular supplement and do an NAD+ IV infusion periodically for a more significant, more immediate effect. Everyone’s body is unique; what works best depends on your specific goals.

Lifestyle Still Matters

If you try NAD+ and NMN therapies, remember that good habits make a huge difference. Sleeping and eating well and managing stress help your body make the most of any treatment.

NAD+ alone won’t fix everything. However, combined with a healthy lifestyle, they can be powerful tools in your anti-aging plan.

Finding the Right Fit Using NAD+

Our favorite modality here at Bentley Medical and Aesthetics is the injectable NAD+. We have found this to be the most generally well tolerated format and it is often what we recommend to patients! We can prescribe, instruct on injections, and monitor with the guidance of one of our skilled and educated providers.

While NAD+ IV’s may be a great option for some, they can take up to 2 hours (or more) to fully reap the benefits, and sometimes have minor, short-term side-effects.

Everyone’s path is personal and different when it comes to using NAD+ and NMN. We suggest a consultation with our medical team to discuss your individual needs and look at your health history, lifestyle, and goals.

Taking the First Step

Wondering where to begin? Start by talking to a provider who understands NAD+. You’ll learn how the treatment works and any possible side effects. But know that most people tolerate NAD+ well. Here at Bentley Medical and Aesthetics, we don’t currently offer NMN, but our providers would be happy to discuss how NAD+ can help you reach your healthiest self!

It’s an exciting time in restorative medicine. Scientists routinely uncover new details about how our bodies age—and, more importantly, how we can slow that process. NAD+ is a big player in this space. It’s not a miracle cure, but when combined with a strong foundation of healthy habits, it can support a more vibrant and active life.

At Bentley Medical and Aesthetics, we stay on top of the latest in restorative medicine. We’ll design a plan that meets your needs, whether you’re aiming for better focus, improved metabolism, or glowing skin. Let’s talk if you’re curious about NAD+ and how it might help you feel more energetic and youthful.
