Hair Loss Treatment

Androgenetic alopecia, commonly called male or female pattern baldness, is caused by Dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a derivative of the male hormone testosterone. The hormonal process of testosterone converting to DHT, happens in both men and women. This hormone causes hair follicles to shrink and in turn stop the growth phase of the hair cycle. Under normal conditions, women have a fraction of the level of testosterone that men have, but even a lower level can cause DHT- triggered hair loss in women. The key to effective treatment of hair loss is early detection and continued compliance.

At Bentley Medical & Aesthetics we evaluate individual needs and formulate a treatment plan involving various prescription medications, supplements, and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections.

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) has emerged as a new regenerative treatment and has been proven to play a beneficial role in hair regrowth.  Recent studies clearly indicate the positive therapeutic effects of PRP injections on pattern hair loss with the absence of major side effects. After treatment, patients participating in clinical studies presented improvement in the average number of hairs and average hair thickness. Patients see the best results after undergoing a series of 3-4 treatments approximately 3 weeks apart. PRP injection is a simple, cost effective and feasible treatment option for androgenic alopecia, with high overall patient satisfaction.
